At Nashoba Brooks, each member of the community, from Preschool to Grade 8, is involved in meaningful service activities. Service learning is embedded in the curriculum at every level, and students are actively engaged in making connections to the community and reflecting upon their experiences.
Throughout their time as Nashoba Brooks, students explore what it means to be meaningfully engaged members of our school community, local community, and global community. Through service learning, students develop skills that will serve them throughout life while they build relationships and develop a better understanding of their own power as leaders and problem solvers.
Highlights include Thanksgiving and end-of-year morning of service projects, student-organized drives, fundraisers for nonprofits, and hands-on experiences at local organizations such as Gaining Ground, Heading Home, Open Table, Nashoba Learning Group, Cradles to Crayons, and more.
Students demonstrate leadership and commitment to service through the school-wide recycling program and other initiatives connected to grade-level curriculum. Through meaningful service, students learn to value new ideas and diverse experiences while making a positive impact in our world.
