Community Impact Statement

Community Impact Statement

Nashoba Brooks School enrolls students in Preschool through Grade 8. Driven by our mission and committed to educating children for a life of continuous learning, accomplishment, and leadership in a diverse and changing world, Nashoba Brooks nurtures students’ growth and character, while fostering the development of each child’s personal excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts.
As a community-centered non-profit organization, Nashoba Brooks School is deeply committed to strong partnership as good neighbors and good citizens of Concord and the greater Metrowest community by fostering partnerships, sharing resources, and supporting shared initiatives. Through collaborative efforts with local organizations, we maximize our collective impact while prioritizing the needs and well-being of the community.

Education and Student Engagement

Nashoba Brooks provides educational opportunities for more than 100 Concord area students annually, covering the full cost to educate every child in our care. This allows the approximately $24,000 per-pupil funding for those students to be reinvested in area public schools,  underscoring our commitment to supporting quality education and enrichment for all, while alleviating financial pressure on local systems.

Access to Unique Resources

Our nonprofit is fortunate to operate on a beautiful 30-acre campus. Recognizing that maintaining the beauty of the natural environment has positive impacts for all members of the local community, Nashoba Brooks holds 5.1301 acres in conservation to ensure public enjoyment and environmental preservation. This space serves as a community haven for education, recreation, and connection.
In support of sustaining our shared resources, Nashoba Brooks has invested in:
  • Engaging a naturalist who, in addition to supporting curriculum for our students, also periodically provides programming open to the public
  • Managing an apiary to support healthy colonies of pollinators, and engages students as effective stewards of our natural world
  • Installing 130 kwh solar arrays on campus
  • Participating in ecological citizen science research including studies of trees, water, invasive species, and endangered species.

Hosting Community Events

We are proud to be the host and facilitator of numerous events and programs that enrich the fabric of our community. Our campus facilities, both indoor and outdoor, are utilized by local individuals and organizations virtually every evening and weekend. We are pleased to:
  • Host community education events including speakers, trainings and professional development
  • Rent facilities at below market rates
  • Support for local businesses by driving business to local restaurants, book shops, tourism, etc.
  • Host events for community organizations such as Concord youth athletics, Community Chest, neighborhood association, Garden Club gatherings, educational workshops, and more
  • Allow neighbors to utilize our outdoor facilities, parking lots, etc. during off-hours
  • Host community events such as our seasonal weekends, drama performances, and Summer Concert Series at no cost to attendees.

Supporting Key Community Projects

In the spirit of good citizenship and partnership, we regularly make financial and in-kind donations to support critical community projects. Notable contributions include:
  • Support for local businesses such as hosting A Taste of Concord
  • Annual contributions to the Foundation For Metrowest
  • Support for the Concord Public Library renovation fostering community engagement and education
  • Planting trees as part of the town's 250th anniversary celebration, leaving a legacy of sustainability for generations to come.
We take pride in being more than just a small independent school, and we value our meaningful connections with our local communities. We are committed to continuing to strengthen local connections, engage in healthy partnerships, offer meaningful resources, and create a lasting impact for residents of all ages.
