Preschool - Grade 3

Transitional Kindergarten

Through an interdisciplinary curriculum, the Nashoba Brooks Transitional Kindergarten serves as a developing year for students to build on established skills learned in preschool so they may prepare for their kindergarten year.  Transitional Kindergarten students construct meaning and expand their skills and knowledge in the classroom community that bridges the play-based model of our preschool and the academic trajectory of our kindergarten.

  • Our teachers embrace the importance of play and create nurturing environments for children to love school, have fun, and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Children develop the ability to engage independently and collaboratively in a supportive classroom setting in which students have a deep sense of belonging and comfort with taking academic risks.
  • Students participate in a variety of classes including physical education, art, music, Spanish, science, and library.
  • Young children learn well when they have the opportunity to physically explore their environment. We utilize our 30-acre campus which includes large athletic fields, a variety of playgrounds, woods with nature trails, and ponds to run, jump, climb, and explore throughout each day.
  • Students have access to resources such as a full-time nurse, counselor, reading specialists, as well as on-campus connections with consulting speech and language pathologists and occupational therapists.
